The Maryland Sheep Wool Festival is a huge event on our calendar. We had a great time at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival this year, with our Vermont Natural Sheepskins booth. We had a fantastic time meeting new fans, saying hello to some of our Instagram friends, and connecting with some other fantastic makers.
Elizabeth Elliott of eelliottknits.com creates modern, wearable designs.
Anne Choi of Middle Brook Fiberworks had gorgeous batts and yarns from her own flock of sheep.
Sarah got to have a photo with Sam Barsky, the internet-famous sweater knitter.
We met Casey Ryder of the Port Fiber yarn shop in Portland Maine. Casey is doing some great work with the Cashmere People women’s fiber cooperative of Tajikistan.
Of course, we couldn’t miss the chance to say hi to Jill Draper and pick up some of her lovely USA-made and hand-dyed yarns. Sarah immediately came home and cast on the Irma Hat by Aneta Gasiorowska with Jill’s newest yarn, Kingston.
On the way home we discovered the Clean Plate Kitchen in Clinton, New Jersey, featuring farm-to-table dining by the river.
It was a fantastic trip and we highly recommend the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. Weather you are a fiber crafter, or just want to enjoy a fun afternoon watching sheep dogs and shearing demonstrations, learning about farming, and eating great food.
