The Tour de Fleece is an event for hand-spinners that takes place during the Tour de France. This year, I’ve joined a team in hopes of finishing off some long-neglected fiber in the stash.
This year, the Tour de Fleece Runs Saturday July 7 through Sunday July 29th. There are always a bunch of teams to choose from if you want to join in the fun. I’m on Team Akerworks this year, because I admire and lust after their custom bobbins and other spinning and knitting tools.
Another great option to join (particularly if you’re local to Portland, Maine) is the PortFiber Team, hosted by yarn shop owner Casey Rider. Casey’s got some great prizes lined up if you are spinning with fibers purchased from her shop.
Ravelry has other Tour de Fleece teams to join if you want one that is more local to you or that has a different focus. You can find a number of them at this search results page, or do your own search in the Forums on Ravelry to find a team that matches your interests.
