This weekend, my mother and I made a quick trip up to Waterbury, a town about an hour from the homestead. Our venture was prompted by the relocation of our local yarn shop from Montpelier. We were happy to see the new space: bright, open, and buzzing with lots of visitors. Congrats to Lee and Jayne. If you’re traveling through Vermont on vacation I highly recommend a visit to Yarn.
I also picked up a skein of natural-colored Cormo & Corriedale yarn from Savage Hart Farm. I have an idea for a design with this, and will be working on that in the spring.
Next, we stopped for lunch at a well-renowned eatery, Prohibition Pig. What started out as the birthplace of Heady Topper, the restaurant was sold off after The Alchemist established a new, larger brewery. “Pro Pig” now serves a barbecue-inspired menu featuring local meats and their own house-brewed beers. I picked up a few and Rick and I sample them in the video above. I heartily recommend stopping at Prohibition Pig if you’re in the area for yarn shopping, or any other reason!
