A couple of years ago, I got fed up with our cheap polyester Santa holiday hats and decided to make my own. In the video I share three fun hats I’ve elected to make for myself and family members:
For Rick: 2 Hour Santa Hat by Wendi Dunlap.
Mods: used a slightly thinner yarn (Knitpicks Wool of the Andes Bulky) and cast on 78 stitches on US 10 needles.
For Me: Santa Bang-y by Denise Bein Kroll.
Mods: Larger (8US) needle and larger pom-poms
For Mom: Christmas Tree Hat by Amy Stender.
Mods: Decorated with pom-poms. Go nuts!
Best pom-pom tools are the sets by Clover, which you can get at craft retailers and your local yarn shop.
Of course there are other options for festive hats including Turkeys, Elfs, Gifts, or Cake.
